Quadrangle Products Inc.
Product Application Engineer
My work with Quadrangle Products centers on the design and fabrication of custom cable assemblies. This includes determining feasibility, cost, and lead times for custom parts. The feasibility of the design has many considerations, from connector terminal and wire compatibility, EMI considerations, price targets, current carrying needs, and environmental requirements. The cost of labor, components, and logistics need to be considered as well. Under certain circumstances a part needs to be outsourced, in which shipping, components, and vendor costs need evaluated.

Produced symbolic drawings using lightweight software for quick push outs to production for cable assembly and used AutoCad EAGLE for FPC and PCB gerber files. Following this, a bill of materials is produced for the drawing and assembly steps were determined. Typical components used include commercial connectors, such as those produced by Hirose, and Military connectors, such as MIL-DTL-D38999 and MIL-DTL-24308. Micro-coaxial connector were also used regularly.
FPCs and PCBs are also very typical. I consulted with customers on board side connectors to make recommendations, with primary concerns being size constraints and EMI effects. Connector footprint and symbols were created for projects from manufacturer’s drawings. PCB gerber files were created for breakout and extension boards or according to customer needs.
